The smallest variations can make the biggest difference

A weld can be produced within acceptable parameter ranges while the interaction of several small variations raises the probability of a defect. The challenge is not monitoring each variable, but understanding their combined influence.

01The challenge

Quality emerges from interacting conditions

Current, voltage, travel speed, material, thickness, joint geometry, thermal conditions and equipment behaviour all change during production. Small deviations inside nominal limits can together cause porosity, incomplete fusion, distortion or inconsistent strength.

Fixed thresholds overlook those interactions, and opaque models struggle to give engineers useful explanations. The cost is extra inspection, rework, scrap, downtime and, at worst, serious quality failures.

02What ETR brings

Adaptive decisions with an inspectable trail

Multivariable pattern detection

Identify combinations of process conditions associated with quality deviations.

Adaptive learning

Incorporate new operating experience and changing process conditions.

Traceable quality assessment

Record the relationships behind each prediction or alert.

Resource-efficient

Deployment architectures compatible with industrial computing constraints, including edge.

ETR is evaluated as an advisory intelligence layer next to monitoring and quality-control systems. Any move to direct process control would need separate validation against physical safety and quality constraints.

03Pilot validation

What a pilot would test

Status
Open to pilots, no pilot announced yet
Format
Paid pilot, typically 12 weeks
Success
A KPI agreed up front

Process data combined with verified inspection results, comparing ETR with established monitoring methods.

Metrics: defect-detection sensitivity, false-alarm rate, time to detection, completeness of explanations and avoidable rework.

04Evolution path

What ETR does today, and what comes next

The same architecture grows level by level. Later levels are planned capabilities of ETR, not results already shown in this application.
