Energy & critical infrastructure
A more complex grid needs more accountable intelligence
Distributed solar, electric vehicles, batteries, heat pumps and dynamic consumption are changing how electricity flows across local networks. Reliability now depends on understanding how conditions interact across an evolving system.
01The challenge
Small local changes. Network-wide effects.
Voltage, load, generation, equipment condition, weather and demand flexibility interact continuously. A local rise in consumption can be manageable on its own and problematic when combined with generation changes or network constraints.
Control approaches must respect strict safety limits, and predictive systems must support decisions that operators can inspect and validate.
02What ETR brings
Adaptive decisions with an inspectable trail
Continuous monitoring
Prioritise significant changes in network operating conditions.
Non-linear intelligence
Learn associations between interacting demand, generation and network variables.
Traceable recommendations
Preserve the information and relationships used to assess each condition.
Flexible integration
An intelligence layer alongside established network-management platforms.
ETR is designed to complement distribution-system operators’ existing control, protection and safety mechanisms.
03In simulation
Watch ETR manage voltage on a solar-rich feeder
A recorded OpenDSS simulation of the IEEE 123-bus test feeder with ten solar inverters over one day. Compare no control, a standard IEEE 1547 rule and ETR, and see what each inverter read and why it absorbed or injected reactive power.
Illustrative simulation on a public benchmark feeder, not a pilot and not results on a real network.
04Pilot validation
What a pilot would test
- Status
- Open to pilots, no pilot announced yet
- Format
- Paid pilot, typically 12 weeks
- Success
- A KPI agreed up front
Historical distribution-network data and a validated simulation or digital-twin environment.
Metrics: detection of operating constraints, forecast quality, false-alarm rate, computational efficiency and traceability of recommendations. More advanced capabilities would need validation against network models, engineering limits and regulatory and cybersecurity requirements.
05Evolution path
What ETR does today, and what comes next
The same architecture grows level by level. Later levels are planned capabilities of ETR, not results already shown in this application.
